remote-backups.com today announced the general availability of Buckets, an object storage product with an S3-compatible API, hosted entirely in German datacenters. Buckets graduated from a public beta phase that began in May and is now available to all customers from €6 per TB per month.
Customers create a bucket from the dashboard by choosing a region, a size between 100 GB and 20 TB, and a bandwidth limit of 100, 250, or 500 Mbit/s. Each bucket is provisioned with its own HTTPS endpoint, access key, and secret key, scoped to that single bucket.
Because the API is S3-compatible, existing tooling works without modification: rclone, restic, aws-cli, s3cmd, and any S3 SDK connect by pointing at the bucket endpoint with the provided credentials. This makes Buckets suitable both as a backup target for systems outside the Proxmox ecosystem and as general-purpose storage for application data, build artifacts, and exports.
Objects are stored redundantly within the chosen region. Cross-region replication is not part of the product; customers who need a copy in a second region can create a bucket there and synchronize between the two with standard S3 tooling.
Buckets are priced at €6 per TB per month net, metered hourly on the provisioned bucket size. There are no request fees and no bandwidth fees beyond the selected speed limit. Combined with autoscaling, the provisioned size tracks actual usage in 100 GB increments.
Buckets are generally available now in the Frankfurt and Düsseldorf regions. Customers can create buckets from the dashboard; a completed billing account setup is required.
