Find the fastest edge proxy for your Proxmox Backup Server. This tool measures latency from your browser to each of our global edge locations and recommends the best one to speed up your backups.
Our edge locations act as acceleration proxies for your Proxmox Backup Server transfers. Instead of sending data directly to Frankfurt over a high-latency link, your backup data travels to a nearby edge location first, then gets forwarded over our optimized backbone. Measured results show up to 13x faster transfers on high-latency paths.
This works because TCP throughput degrades with higher latency. Use our TCP Throughput Calculator to see how round-trip time limits single-stream performance. By reducing RTT from hundreds of milliseconds to single digits, each TCP stream can push significantly more data.
Wondering how much storage you'll need? Try the Backup Storage Estimator to calculate your requirements with deduplication and retention policies.
To use an edge location: simply change your PBS hostname to the edge hostname shown above. No other changes needed, your credentials, fingerprints, and encryption stay the same. See the full setup guide on our Edge Locations feature page.
