You create buckets in the dashboard under S3 Buckets. A bucket needs a completed account: monthly buckets need a billing account, because they are billed per TB, and prepaid buckets need enough prepaid balance.
Pick Monthly Billing to pay each month for the current size, with autoscaling and no minimum term. Pick Prepaid to pay once for a fixed size and a number of months. Size and billing compares the two in detail.
Select a size from the presets or enter your own. Monthly buckets start at 500 GB, prepaid buckets at 100 GB, and both go up to 20 TB. Then choose the bandwidth limit: 100, 250 or 500 Mbit/s. The traffic itself is always included. A prepaid bucket keeps its size and speed for its whole term; a monthly bucket can change both later, and you can turn on autoscaling right away.
Select the location of your bucket, or keep Automatic to get the best available one. A location that is full shows Currently out of capacity; pick another one or try again later. The location becomes part of your endpoint, for example fra1.my-s3.com. You cannot change it in the dashboard later, so choose the location that is closest to the systems that use the bucket.
Give the bucket a name that you recognize, check the order summary with its price, and click Create Bucket. The bucket is ready a moment later. Go to Bucket opens its page, where you find the credentials to connect your tools.
