You order datastores in the dashboard under Datastores. A monthly datastore needs a completed account with a billing setup; a prepaid datastore only needs enough prepaid balance.
Monthly Billing charges every 30 days for the current size, with autoscaling and no minimum term. Prepaid charges once for a fixed size and a term of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. Longer terms get a discount of 10, 15 or 20%, and the order summary shows it.
Select a size from the presets or enter your own. Monthly datastores start at 500 GB, prepaid datastores at 200 GB, and both go up to 10 TB. Then choose the network speed; the order summary shows its price. A prepaid datastore keeps its size and speed for the whole term. A monthly datastore can change both later, and you can turn on autoscaling right away.
Select the location of your datastore, or keep Automatic to get the best available one. A location that is full shows Currently out of capacity. Choose a location close to the systems that back up to it: a shorter path means faster backups. Peering and routing explains why.
Give the datastore a name that you recognize, check the order summary, and click Order Datastore. The datastore is ready after a short provisioning step. Go to Datastore opens its page, and Connect shows the credentials to connect Proxmox VE or Proxmox Backup Server.
