A new mission starts empty. In this guide you add your guests, check their settings and save the mission, so that it is ready for its first restore test.
Open Recovery in the dashboard, click Create mission and give it a name, for example the name of your cluster. Then click Add guests and select the VM and container backups from your datastores. Each backup becomes a guest of the mission, and the mission reads the CPU cores, memory and disk size from the backup configuration.
Click a guest in the list to open its settings. By default a guest uses the latest snapshot: the newest backup at the moment a run starts. You can also pin a fixed snapshot.
Each guest needs at least 1 CPU core and 1 GiB of memory, set in steps of 0.5 GiB. The disk can be larger than in the backup, but not smaller, because a restore cannot shrink a disk.
Click Save. The status chip at the top shows where the mission stands. Ready means that you can run a restore test. Draft means that something is still open: click the chip to see the check list, and click an item to jump to the guest it is about. The check list also shows the failover readiness, but a restore test does not need it.
Most missions are complete at this point, and all guests start at once. If one guest needs another first, set a boot order. Otherwise, go on and run a restore test.
